Bernard brings 40+ years of experience in child and adolescent behavioral health, adult mental health, substance use prevention, nonprofit leadership, and public-school leadership.

He served as the Superintendent of Schools in Johnston, RI, where he spent 15 years leading a district of 3,200 students and 500 employees. During that time, he provided social and emotional support for students, improved curriculum, and led the construction of a new central elementary school building.

At C3 Wellbeing, Bernard drives program strategy, prevention services, student assistance, employee assistance, and systems change initiatives. His approach is grounded in research-based practices, the fidelity of effective services for youth and adults, and a strong belief in distributive and collaborative leadership.

Bernard holds a Doctoral degree in educational leadership from Johnson & Wales University, a Master’s degree in clinical social work from New York University, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Rhode Island.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, the outdoors, and winter sports.
